AUDITORIUM: The Auditorium is available for meetings, parties, dinners, bingo, and other activities. A large kitchen is available for use; a $25 fee is required for all and a $200 refundable deposit is due for residents reserving the Auditorium. Food may be placed in the refrigerator and freezer up to two days before an event with advance approval. All food must be removed by noon of the day after the event or will be disposed of. The Auditorium also includes two Card Rooms, a lounge with a color television set, fireplace, and a library. [Revised 1/16/15]
ANNEX: The Annex room is available for smaller meetings and parties, and kitchen facilities are available. If residents reserve the Annex a $200 refundable deposit will be required. Clubs will be billed if the facility is not left clean. [Revised 1/16/15]
LIBRARY: The Library in the Auditorium has many fine books, magazines, and puzzles. Materials have been donated by residents of Friendly Valley and are for the enjoyment of residents. The library operates on an honor system and all items borrowed for use should be returned promptly when finished.
FITNESS CENTER: Exercise equipment is available for use during normal hours of 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. All users must sign in with the guard prior to using any equipment. Upon individual request, the Gym will be opened at 5:00 a.m. to accommodate residents. All sign-in sheets and disclaimers MUST be signed prior to using equipment.
HOBBY ROOMS: Ceramics, Woodshop, are available to all residents and will be opened upon request between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. All sign-in sheets and disclaimers MUST be signed prior to using the room or equipment.
SWIMMING POOL: The swimming pool is heated year round for your swimming pleasure. Shower rooms and locker rooms are available for the convenience of swimmers. Lockers are for storage only while using the pool. Items are not to be left in lockers overnight. See Pool Rules & Regulations.
HOT POOL: The hot pool is operated for your health and pleasure. No one should stay in the hot pool longer than six (6) minutes at any one time.
GOLF COURSES: There are two (2) golf courses: a nine (9) hole Executive course and an eighteen (18) hole Pitch and Putt course. These courses are open seven (7) days a week unless posted closed. The golf lounge is open, and starting times are controlled by the starter on duty. Guests are charged a fee as posted at the golf starter’s window, and must be accompanied by a resident.
LAWN BOWLS COURT: Lawn bowling is the only activity permitted on the green. Free bowling lessons will be provided by members of the Friendly Valley Lawn Bowls Club. Persons wishing to lawn bowl in the absence of Club members must notify Security prior to use.
PICNIC AREAS: There are four (4) picnic areas available: The BBQ Picnic Area, the Gathering Place, the Junior Place, and the Patio. The two larger picnic areas (BBQ Picnic Area and Gathering Place) have barbecue grills and picnic facilities. Picnic tables must be reserved in advance at the Business Office. A non-refundable $25 clean-up fee is required for the picnic areas when the use of the grill is requested.
PATIO: The patio area is located between the shuffleboard court and the horseshoe court. Chairs and a picnic table are available. No reservations are required for this area, which is open for the enjoyment of all residents.
SHUFFLEBOARD AND HORSESHOES: Flat-soled shoes are required for play on these courts. Anything that leaves indentations is detrimental to the maintenance of a smooth surface, which is essential.
CHILDREN: Children - anyone under the age of eighteen (18) years, are always welcome to use the facilities, provided they are accompanied by a member. Children at least 12 years of age may play on the Pitch & Putt course (see Golf rules). Exceptions: This age group is not allowed in the hobby rooms, lawn bowls court, executive golf course, or in the therapeutic hot pool. The swimming pool is open to children from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. See Pool Rules & Regulations.
FURNITURE: Furniture located in each of the recreational rooms or facilities is to remain in the room or area where placed. Tables and chairs may not be moved to other rooms or areas.
PARKING: Visitor’s vehicles parked overnight in the community more than 48 hours in any 14 day period shall obtain a Guest Parking tag from the Security Office. The tag shall be hung from the rear view mirror for the duration of the visit and shall be returned to Security prior to leaving the community. [Revised 6/20/01] [Revised 1/16/13] Any clubs sponsoring trips are responsible to inform participants of where to park. Residents going on one (1) day trips may park in available spaces in the golf course parking lot or on the street. No one is allowed to leave their vehicles in the parking lots overnight.
Buses should load and unload in the golf course lot adjacent to the side door of the Auditorium. All trip coordinators must complete a Security Trip Information form and give it to Security prior to the trip leaving. They should include all non-residents license plate numbers on the form.
